Seven years, one squad, and a national credential.

In 2019 the India Community Center invited Subham to California to coach at its table tennis centre in Milpitas, one of the most active junior programmes in the United States. He arrived with more than fifteen years of competitive experience and eleven years of working life behind him in India, and he started building a squad.

He has coached more than two hundred young players there, with around fifteen in the squad at any one time. Their results run from four-star ranking tournaments through US Nationals and the US Open to USA National Team selection — Ved Sheth in the under-19 team and Vishal Sivakumar in the under-13 team for 2022–23.

National coaching staff

In 2022 Subham served as a mentor on the national coaching team at the national training camp in Westchester, preparing USA athletes for the Pan American Championships.

Talent development

He has also played an important role in nurturing young talent through development programmes and camps — identifying promising players early and helping them progress into more advanced training environments. Several of those athletes have gone on to compete successfully at national and international level.

Still competing

Coaching has not replaced playing. Since arriving in the United States he has won the U-3800 doubles title at the 2021 US Open, taken the V-2200 event at the USATT four-star ICC JOOLA Fall Open, and reached a final, a semifinal and a quarterfinal across three events at the 2022 JOOLA Global Championships in Orlando.
